JanSport
In my current role as Art Director for JanSport I lead the creative vision for our website and broader marketing initiatives. I concept and produce monthly photo and video shoots that align with current trends and elevate the brand’s visual identity. My role involves crafting compelling narratives through imagery that resonate across digital platforms, with a strong focus on web, social media, and campaign content. I collaborate cross-functionally to ensure cohesive execution, from initial concept through final delivery, maintaining a consistent and forward-thinking aesthetic that drives engagement and brand growth.
Productions
I’m responsible for the art direction, producing, styling, and casting for our productions. Below are some examples of my recent projects for JanSport, however I run on average 2-3 productions a month of varying scales, photo and video, so I have worked on quite a few productions not listed below.
Spring 26 Lifestyle Shoot
Art Direction, Styling, Post-Edits
Budget: ~100k Location: Catalina Island, CA
We shot on location for this, it was a big undertaking to get a full season collection shot in just 3 days but with careful planning we were able to pull it off. We shot video primarily and photos were secondary.
Clear Collection Shoot
Lead Art Director, Stylist, Producer, Post-Edits
Budget: 5k Location: Downtown Denver
We had to get a lot done with not very much budget for this shoot. To maximize our budget we had a team member do the photography, which meant we walked away with a ton of selects, so win-win.
Highlands Mini Pack - Yeehaw and Horses
Lead Art Director, Stylist, Producer, Photographer
Budget: 2k Location: Firestone, CO
I knew I wanted to shoot this with a horse if possible and we were lucky enough to get connected with a rodeo horse + owner that was willing to work within our budget. We also captured social content while shooting so we really maximized our time.
Ecom Photography
This is one of my biggest projects at JanSport, I have been working incrementally to update our ecom photography, all in an effort to elevate the brand and make our online presence feel more Gen-Z relevant. I do all my own casting for this, using actual college kids to give an authentic feel. I also lead the styling efforts, direct everything on set and act as a producer.
Where we started…
No styling, no personality, feels young and generic. Soft lighting gives the whole shoot a ‘senior photos’ feel. All the models hold the same pose.
Where we are now…
Lots of styling, model feels authentic and relevant. We experiment with lots of posing options, have the models interact with the bags in a way that feels natural. Lighting is harder than the previous which gives an elevated overall feel.
Where we’re going…
Lighting and set feel natural and real, models are styled in a youthful and trendy way (this is for travel so she’s in a travel specific outfit). We use props where it make sense and overall feels much more compelling and real than the previous iterations.
Product Videos
I direct and produce product videos for all of our new silhouettes. I work with a DP and a stylist, and occasionally a PA to produce these shoots.
